About Calico Juno Designs

Bonnie Riconda’s jewelry design philosophy is based on her love of brilliant, bright colors, a light feeling of airiness, and of all things truly hand-created by the artist. Everything is made by hand in her studio, and all gemstones and beads are wrapped by hand, and other parts and findings, such as hoops, clasps, and french wires, are made by hand as well. Precious and semi-precious gemstones, freshwater pearls, and other stones are used in combination to create a wonderful palette of colors in her original designs.

After getting a BFA from York College of PA in 2000 and an MFA in 2002, in painting and sculpture, from Long Island University of New York, Bonnie’s love of jewelry and creating things by hand determined her course in starting her business Calico Juno Designs. With no experience or training in jewelry design and creation, she started experimenting with some gemstones and wire she bought in a little store in Long Island. After many trial-and-error pieces she came up with about 30 original designs, and then the creation of the website www.CalicoJunoDesigns.com.

Still going strong 22 years later, the website features over 1,800 designs, all still handmade in the NY studio.

Calico Juno Designs is carried by over 350 boutiques, galleries, and museum stores all across the country, and internationally as well.
